Time for pizza.
I have been testing some code for server-side-events in Ekster. It works pretty well. It seems there are some problems still, but these can be solved in time.
I should be able now to add a short message to global timeline in Ekster.
I'm going to try and support server-side events in Ekster by sending the access token in the GET request. There should be a better way, but I want to make sure this is a useful feature, before making it really secure. #famouslastwords
The greatest feature for me is WebSub support in Ekster. WebSub sends a signal when a new post is added to a blog. These signals will end up at Ekster and it will update the channels automatically. The only thing missing is the server-side events, which allow the client to update it's counts.
The other thing you can do in Ekster is removing all items that contain certain words. These will just disappear from that channel.
In Ekster it's possible to automatically gather items in a different channel, because of the words it contains. The problem is that sometimes these items are only useful in context. A way to fix this, would be to be able to ask for items before and after that item. #microsub #ekster
On Github Pull Requests pages, collective actions take place. People and bots alike, can review, comment, adjust and change the content of those pages. Changes are revealed in realtime and are collected on the page in a log. The Shared Page pattern can create a great place where shared action takes place.
Today I upgraded Home Assistant to the latest version 0.96.5.
- I adjusted a few things that deteriorated in the meantime. Now the
history
andrecorder
tabs are working again. - I'm using the
opentherm_gw
component again instead of my own OTGW bridge. This allows me to use theclimate
thermostat component again. - I set up OwnTracks with the Private HTTP webhooks instead of the MQTT bridge. The webhooks have as a positive point that these don't need an extra certificate to keep it secure. It will just use the certificate that I use with Home Assistant.
